Information We Collect
When you use Listly, we collect:
- Account information: Email address, display name, and phone number (optional) when you create an account.
- Google account data: If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google.
- Apple account data: If you sign in with Apple, we receive an Apple user identifier and, if you choose to share it, your name and email. You may opt to hide your email using Apple's private relay service.
- List data: Grocery lists, items, and shared list memberships you create within the app.
- Voice input: If you use the voice grocery feature, audio is processed on-device by the operating system and only the resulting text is sent to our servers, which forward it to OpenAI (see below) to extract list items. We do not record or store audio.
- Device information: Basic device identifiers for authentication and app functionality.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the Listly service, including real-time list syncing.
- To authenticate your identity and secure your account.
- To send OTP verification codes to your email.
- To provide AI-powered grocery suggestions based on your shopping patterns (generated from your own list history, not shared with any third party).
- To convert spoken input into list items using OpenAI's API when you use the voice grocery feature. Only the transcribed text you speak is sent — never audio, and never other list or account data. This happens only if you have granted permission in the app; you can withdraw permission at any time in Settings.
- To process subscription payments through Google Play Billing (Android) or Apple App Store (iOS).
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only in these cases:
- Shared lists: When you share a list, other members can see the list items and your display name.
- Service providers: We use Resend for email delivery, Azure for hosting, Google Play for Android payments, and Apple App Store for iOS payments.
- OpenAI (voice feature only): If you use the voice grocery feature and grant permission, the transcribed text of what you said is sent to OpenAI to identify list items, quantities, and categories. OpenAI processes this text under its own API data usage terms, which do not permit use of your data to train their models. We do not send audio, your name, email, or any other account or list data to OpenAI.
- Legal requirements: If required by law or to protect our rights.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely on MongoDB with encryption at rest. Authentication tokens are stored using secure device storage (Keychain on iOS, Keystore on Android). Passwords are hashed using PBKDF2 with 100,000 iterations.
Data Retention & Account Deletion
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from within the app under Settings → Delete Account. Deleting your account permanently removes your profile, all lists you own, and all associated data from our servers. You can also request deletion by contacting us at sewasoft.info@gmail.com.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Update your profile information within the app
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Opt out of email communications
Children's Privacy
Listly is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app.
